12A – Figuring Out Buyer Behavior No. 1

Pick a segment: Government and State employees that are oversee a segment or all of a company.

Need awareness: After interviewing three different Government/State supervisors it became very clear that the need for a financial security system came when dealing with employees that were new and had criminal records, or when employees were given responsibility over any amount of finances and in the process some money was lost. This problem usually takes place outside of the office building when employees are not being watched via vpn software, of by another co-worker. Employees seem to be more likely to abuse company cards and finances when they are on a road assignment that forces them to be outside of the office. Common cases of abuse are lunch bills and gas purchases for non company vehicles (in the case of the the City of Clearwater Supervisor I interviewed).

Move to information search: When the people I interviewed become aware of the a financial security problem they are first likely to check their bank accounts and see where the money went. If they can not prove fraudulent use through that, then they start a interrogation process in which they ask the person or people who they suspect to be involved. This is not a super reliable tool since a culprit can always lie.

Report the findings of your research: Through the interviews I was able to find that a majority of the problem with companies and their financial security is the accountability process. Employees that are not under watch while in possession of company funds are more likely to take advantage of the finances. The companies have a hard time convicting people of their trespasses due to a lack of evidence other than verbal statements.

Draw conclusion: The segment is semi-aware of the need but is fully aware of the lack of product out there to keep them safe.

  1. Hi Mitchell,
I think it is super cool that you decided to interview three different Government/State advisors. Financial security is definitely crucial, especially for people in those positions because there can be so many risks that follow it. I also really like how you were able to recognize that the biggest problem in financial security came from the accountability process. It is definitely possible for employees not under watch to take advantage. Great Post!

  2. Hi,
I really like your idea and believe that it has a lot of potential. A lot of people deal with fraud everyday in the United States. I am also really impressed that you also interviewed three different Government/State supervisors. I'm sure they see fraud as a huge threat to public safety and privacy. I am just wondering that if employees in other companies take advantage of company funds while not being watched, what will prevent your employees from doing the same?

  3. Hey Mitchell!
I thought your idea of interviewing three government/state advisers was well thought out and it showed a lot of dedication. Them checking their bank accounts after becoming aware of the situation is something I believe everyone would do. Your idea is very important, this is not really something ordinary people think about everyday but businesses deal with theft all the time and they need something tho help them with that because it makes their business suffer.
